Facility Amenities
YMCA Art in the Hallway is an informal gallery at the Northside Community Centre YMCA. The hallway accommodates 2 dimensional pieces only. The hallway has approximately 80 feet of linear space to hang artwork. Artwork in this space must be suitable for viewing by people of all ages.
The gallery has exhibition frames measuring 22 X 28”. All artworks must fit into these frames.
The gallery space is open for public viewing whenever the facility is open.
Submission Guidelines
Individuals and community groups are invited to submit work for exhibition at the Northside Community Centre YMCA. Exhibits typically run for two months. YMCA staff schedule exhibits and work with artists to display pieces.
- Artists may apply for a solo exhibit, or, a group of artists may submit a joint exhibit proposal.
- All artwork must measure a maximum of 22" x 28" and be suitable for mounting in exhibit frames. Works on paper are best suited for these frames.
- Artwork can be listed for sale. Anyone interested in purchasing a piece will be given the contact info you provide. No commission from the sale of the piece is required by the YMCA.

Our centre has a large studio space on the second floor where we host group fitness classes like step, cycle and TRX. To rent this space, please speak with a staff member.
YMCA Skatepark Mentors help strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility by providing a safe space for youth to enjoy the Glendale and Downtown Skateparks in Red Deer.

Our large gymnasium features a built-in sound system, projection screen, basketball nets, and access to additional equipment such as pickleball, volleyball and badminton nets, soccer and ball hockey!
Our programs and rentals often use our four multi-purpose rooms, located on both the first and second floors. These versatile spaces can host meetings, your next event or an arts and culture program!
Our state-of-the-art teaching kitchen features double wall ovens, two induction cooktops, large island prep space and access to the rooftop patio with a BBQ, perfect for a chef or chef in the making!
Drop-in and relax, play games, read and connect with friends in our Youth Centre at Northside Community Centre YMCA! Youth Centre is open for 8–18-year-olds, Monday–Friday between 3–6pm.
No registration is required and thanks to support from Border Paving Ltd., and entry is free of charge.
Our lobby features a free parented community play space ideal for parents and caregivers with children 6 years of age and under.
Seniors Programs
Thursdays are for Seniors at Northside Community Centre YMCA! Drop in for Coffee Connect, play some pickleball, join a gentle fitness class or spark your creativity in our art workshops.

Youth Programming
Youth Centre is now open Monday–Friday from 3–5:30pm! No registration required.
Teen Night is available September to June on Fridays from 6–9pm, when 13–18-year-olds can chill out in our Youth Centre at Northside Community Centre YMCA and relax with friends or have a pick-up game in the gym. Watch for our theme nights too! No registration required.
Youth Jam Sessions are back every Friday from 3–9pm! Sign up for hour-long jam sessions with free access to instruments and equipment to help introduce them to the world of music. Mentors within our Centre will work closely with those who are interested in learning the basics as well as jamming out with some of the more experienced youth.
Free Food Fridays are on every Friday night thanks to support from Avalanche Integrity and Alberta Blue Cross! Kids and teens aged 8–18 are welcome to join us for a free hot meal at the Northside Community Centre YMCA. Meals are served at 4:30pm for ages 8–18, and again at 6pm for ages 13–18.
